On Recognizable Languages Of Infinite Pictures

چکیده

In a recent paper, Altenbernd, Thomas and Wöhrle have considered acceptance of languages of infinite two-dimensional words (infinite pictures) by finite tiling systems, with the usual acceptance conditions, such as the Büchi and Muller ones, firstly used for infinite words. The authors asked for comparing the tiling system acceptance with an acceptance of pictures row by row using an automaton model over ordinal words of length ω . We give in this paper a solution to this problem, showing that all languages of infinite pictures which are accepted row by row by Büchi or Choueka automata reading words of length ω are Büchi recognized by a finite tiling system, but the converse is not true. We give also the answer to two other questions which were raised by Altenbernd, Thomas and Wöhrle, showing that it is undecidable whether a Büchi recognizable language of infinite pictures is E-recognizable (respectively, A-recognizable).

Decision Problems for Recognizable Languages of Infinite Pictures

Altenbernd, Thomas and Wöhrle have considered in [ATW03] acceptance of languages of infinite two-dimensional words (infinite pictures) by finite tiling systems, with the usual acceptance conditions, such as the Büchi and Muller ones, firstly used for infinite words. Many classical decision problems are studied in formal language theory and in automata theory and arise now naturally about recogn...

Highly Undecidable Problems about Recognizability by Tiling Systems

Altenbernd, Thomas and Wöhrle have considered acceptance of languages of infinite two-dimensional words (infinite pictures) by finite tiling systems, with usual acceptance conditions, such as the Büchi and Muller ones, in [1]. It was proved in [9] that it is undecidable whether a Büchirecognizable language of infinite pictures is E-recognizable (respectively, A-recognizable). We show here that ...

On Some Recognizable Picture-Languages

We show that the language of pictures over fa; bg, where all occurring b's are connected is recognizable, which solves an open problem in Mat98]. We generalize the used construction to show that monocausal deterministically recognizable picture languages are recognizable, which is surprisingly nontrivial. Furthermore we show that the language of pictures over fa; bg, where the number of a's is ...

A Note on Unambiguity, Finite Ambiguity and Complementation in Recognizable Two-Dimensional Languages

The theory of one-dimensional (word) languages is well founded and investigated since fifties. From several years, the increasing interest for pattern recognition and image processing motivated the research on two-dimensional or picture languages, and nowadays this is a research field of great interest. A first attempt to formalize the concept of finite state recognizability for twodimensional ...
